“I very much wanted not to be where I was. In fact part of the trouble seemed to be that where I was wasn’t anywhere at all. My life felt empty and unreal... I felt like I was in danger of vanishing, though the feelings I had were so raw and overwhelming that I often wished I could find a way of losing myself altogether until the intensity diminished”, — O. Lang

The Sense of Space exhibition brings together space and artist to demonstrate that space is a malleable medium that reflects the nature of human embodiment across the full range of its motor, perceptual, emotional, expressive, developmental and social capacities.

All the participant artists have faced the experience of finding themselves in a new space due to relocation, emigration, political persecution and personal reasons. The projects in the exhibition primarily reflect the struggle of recognizing a new space, making connections and building relationships with it.
